The Institute offers formal Certification to all members. There is a distinct advantage for Nurse Coordinators to
have this certification because it establishes a formal basis and professional recognition.
Now with our new Online Internet Broadcast Seminar, we are able to offer all nurses interested in the MDS process,
training and certification by examination, at whatever level of proficiency is required.
Nurses who are completely new to this discipline need the intensive detailed instruction to acquire the necessary skills
for this process. This will be available by choice of attending the actual two day seminar or participate in the On Line broadcast of the same seminar.
Even nurses who are already working as coordinators will find that participation in the seminar
will help add to their depth of experience.
A new level of MDS certification has been established for well experienced MDS/Care plan nurses who are interested in moving to another level as "certified MDS instructors."
This will open opportunities for instructors to train and certify new mds nurses. As well as working in the field to provide
remedial consulting and mock survey services for SNF facilities.
